The Journey in Pics

Yeah, I'm back home at last !! :-D.

And it was quite a trip. 84 days since I left home, I was back in Bhopal junction. 3 Tickets, (Just for the "to" trip alone, leave alone the return journey). Quite a wait it was, as I've previously mentioned.

The exams in the last week, the fear of the Minor-2 Jinx (We've never had our Minor 2s on time since we joined college i.e our batch. Each time it has got canceled and postponed.) Going to the temple everyday for the last one week, praying for a good exam the next day and for no hitches in the trip back home, it was all a very troubled period.

Especially the last two days, one being my birthday and the other the last day before the trip. I was not able to even read properly for the last exam because of the impending journey back home and all the thoughts of home, all though I somehow managed to do a passable paper that day !

Time Dilation I guess, each minute was more like an hour (Except of course during the exam [:p]). And finally I did make the journey and I am back in Chennai where I'll be spending a whole fortnight ! :-D

Well, dont feel like writing a lot now. Jus sleepy! Still tired from the looooong journey back home ! So here are a few pictures taken on the course of the journey.

PS: I don't take credit for most of the pictures. Most of them were shot by Manoj on his camera ! :-). Of course, I did take a couple here and a couple there but that's it !

That's my Birthday Cake for this year. A lovely one IMO. :-)
"Happy Birthday to Me" is a take on my Orkut profile name by my friends. :-)

That's Bhopal Junction during the wait for the train. It turned up one hour late after announcements for a half and hour that " Yaatrigan Krupaya Dhyaan Dhey. Train No. 2-6-4-2 Nizamuddin-Kanyakummari Thirukkural Express scheduled to arrive at 17-10 is expected to arrive in a few minutes on Platform No.1" Or something like that. Don't remember the exact words. The time kept changing from a few minutes to 50 minutes finally before the train arrived !

That's my train, Thirukural Express, rolling into Bhopal Junction at last !

That's us leaving Bhopal junction ! Around 6-10 p.m I guess :-).

That's Vijayawada Junction for you. Quaint little city with hills on one side and the huge Krishna on the other ! Awesome sight really. The station's quite good with LCD TVs and stuff!

Rolling out of Vijayawada enroute Chennai ! 12-00 Noon -> 28-9-08

The outer parts of Vijayawada Station. Quite well maintained with well cut trees planted at regular intervals !

Rolling into the Krishna River bridge, close to 4 minutes to get across the bridge ! Such a huge river it is ! Had a whale of a time looking out from the carriage doors into the depths of the river!

That's Airtel Rajdhani Express going across the other bridge on the Krishna. Great marketing by Laloo Prasad. The trains are looking more colourful now !

One more picture of the same !

That's the bridge again. :-)

Ha Ha. Yet another !

A miscellaneous Quaint little Station on the way.

Black and white. Southern Andhra Pradesh, enroute Gudur. We people were really jobless you know, and we kept clicking away like mad !

That's Yours Truly peeking out from the Emergency window while my friend snapped it from the door.

That's the last of Andhra -> Tada ! Finally. Around 5 pm I guess. :-). What a huuuuuuuge state it is!

And that's Tamil Nadu for you ! The first station in Tamil Nadu on the Delhi - Chennai and Delhi - Calcutta routes. :-). And what an apt name - Aarambaakkam. - Aaram meaning "Start".

An uneventful journey mostly except for the cards we played for sometime and the humour provided by two ladies from somewhere in the north on a tourist trip down south. They wanted to visit Rameshwaram and Thirupathi with the misguided information that Chennai is just 5 hrs from Rameshwaram by train (Around 15 hrs actually) and Thirupathy is closer to Madurai than Chennai (rather than the true Vice-Versa). She actually said this when the train was near Warangal - " Naariyal ped aa gaye. Madhraas aa gaya ! Yahaan sabhi jegah me sirf Naariyal hi milta hai" [:-p] (Coconut trees are there. Madhraas (Madras) has arrived. Here coconuts are available everywhere).

Now that I'm back home, time is flying ! :-(. As Einstein (or someone) put it, with slight modifications, "When you are in Chennai (substitute with your home town provided hometown != Bhopal) , 15 Days seems like 15 minutes. Whereas when in Bhopal, 15 minutes seems like 15 days. That's relativity for you ! "  :-p.

-----------------------------------

PS: No offence meant in anyway to anyone. If at all it offened you, I'm really sorry. Have been wanting to ask this for lots of time. "Hoshangabad" or any similar word is pronounced as "Hosangabad" by most Hindi Speaking people from MP, UP, Bihar etc and in the right way by   most South Indians. When it must be the other way round, considering Hindi has 3 "sha" sounds ->श(Sha)  ष(Shha ?!)  स(Sa)  when opposed to ச(Cha) , ஸ(Sa) in Tamil. And when the Hindi Spelling for the same reads " होशंगाबाद " ! Same with "Ischool" for "School" etc.  Any idea for the reason behind this ? .. "H","S" allergy eh !? [:p].

19 and Counting !

I complete 19 years of existence on Earth today and quite a life it has been, full of everything I can probably ask for. Joy, Sorrow, Anguish, Victory, Defeat - I've seen quite a lot and learned more ! Everyday of life has seen me learn something. :-). Never did I dream that I'd achieve all this when I set out. (Probably I couldn't dream, or probably I did dream something but I don't remember it). Too many people - ranging from my parents to teachers to friends - are responsible for where I am today. Esp. my parents. Thankful to each person who has had a part in making me how I am now. From St. Isabels Hospital, Chennai, Sept 26,1989; I guess I've come a long way! :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME [:p]. (Lol !)

PS: That was my last year's B'day cake. :-)

Just one more day, one more exam before I'm back home !!!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaay !!! The long wait is over atlast. Phew, and what an agonising wait it was ! I was just dying through it. Just waiting to be back to Good Ol' Chennai with all it's heat and traffic and of course, Mom's Food more than anything else ! I'm just sick of seeing the same Roti, Dal and Chawal with some crap which is supposedly "Sabji".(I hardly eat any. Lol ! Most of my mess money goes waste) Sathyam Cinemas here I come ;-)  .I've never been this homesick (If you can call it that i.e) ever before in these last one and half odd years! Just waiting for the moment when the train rolls into Chennai Egmore more than anything else now ! Tomo's exam can wait. :-p. Not that I prepare for my exams. Just not in the mood at all even for the usual last minute rushing throughs !

I guess that'll do for this post ! Next post when I'm back in my h(e)aven ! I'm too sick of seeing

I'm Lovin It !

Nah. Nothing to do with McDonalds ! :-D.

Civil Engg. was not a course that I took by choice. Actually speaking ,I had no choice after the marks I got in AIEEE and 12th boards! In Tamil Nadu, Civil Engg. is viewed as something which ain't too good, or something like Commerce Group in 12th ( People don't realise the value of both !). Even some of my school teachers were like - " Didn't you get something better? .." or " Chemical, Mechanical kooda kadaikaliya?" (Didn't you get even Chemical or Mechanical?) Initially, due to the attitude of these people, I was quite apprehensive about the course. Some people even went to the extent of "Maestry Velai" (Building Contractor Job). Others were like "Should you go up to Bhopal for studying Civil Engg.?"  I'm yet to find the reason behind such an attitude ! Back home, any thing other than Electronics, IT, Comp Science and to a lesser extent Mechanical and Electrical is like kind off looked down upon !

Desperation was the only thing that drove me to take Civil Engg. but now I can say that I couldn't have got a better course than Civil Engg. Probably I'd have liked CSE more (Not that I had any chance of getting it in any decent college !) For a person allergic to Electric Circuits and stuff and hates Mechanical, there cant be any better option than Civil Engg, can there?

I cant find anything wrong with the subjects. Surveying, Civil Engg. Drawing, (Probably the most interesting subject and my most favourite. What better than planning your own buildings ?) are fast turning out into my favourites. Practicals, esp. the Surveying ones are great given that the weather is bearable. Geology and Construction Technology are quite the cakewalks. :-)

All I can say is that "I'm lovin it" !

Pic: Me during one of the survey practicals with a Prismatic Compass. :-)

------------------------

Just around 7 days and 18 hours left ! Yeah, for my trip back (Hopefully nothing stops it. Hoping for the best). It's so sickening, the wait. The ticket, though I booked it about 1.5 months back, is still unmoved on Waiting List 2! Hopefully, it gets confirmed too. :-| I'm sooo looking forward to being back home atlast. :-D. Have missed so much back home and hope to make it all up [Especially, all the Kgs I've lost, close to 8kg I guess when I last measured :-( ] Oh. Why isn't there a Fast Forward button in Life? :-(.

What's Next !

Got this picture from behind one of friend's notebooks when I spotted it while turning through it class ! All this happened when I was desperately trying to prevent myself from falling asleep after a long night doing my first Civil Engg. Drawing sheet ( A Residential Building) which had to be submitted on Tuesday. I'd never attended a Drawing class before in college till Tuesday because of various reasons ranging from Mass Bunks(GTs as they are known here) to Sleeplessness (Lol!) and because of lack of interest !

How I managed 14/15 in the CEG (Civil Engg. Graphics) Minor Exam and How I have an attendance of 7 out of 11 classes is still an Unsolved Mystery ! :-D

Before I forget what this post was meant for, here is it. Click on the picture and view it in full size and try reading through the Olympic Achievements of our own Indian Sportsmen ! Keep an Eye on .. Well .. Everywhere ! Bloopers are there all over ranging from "Narman Prichert" for "Norman Pritchard" to "Liander Pious" for "Leander Paes" ! And from "Lassangels" to "Masco" ! Sure to have you laughing !

As I was going through this, the first thing that came to my mind was how this Bhopali Printing company would have put across India's 2008 Olympic Achievements.

Probably,
2008 - Pijing - Abinow Pindraw - Gunshooting [:p] - Gold
2008 - Pijing - Sushill Kumar - Wrestle - Bronze
2008 - Pijing - Vigender Kumar - Box - Bronze

( No offence meant to our Olympic Heroes though. Just my imagination :-) )
Readers' versions are also welcome !

Isn't there something that prevents this kind of comical "dishonour" to the already few Olympic medal winners we have ! Cant a printer take care while doing this kind of a thing ! There aren't too many names, are there !

Silenced

Last week around the same time, I had this bad cold coupled with fever. And my voice became a wreck! So sad was my state that I couldn't even utter a word or two that could be understood by others. Communication with my parents were restricted to a couple of SMSes a day ! Answering the attendance in class was a "No No". No tablet or Cough syrup worked ! My friends said I sounded like one of these "English Movie Villains". I thought I was worser. Lol. Ripple was gone without my voice. I couldn't answer even one question in the second round on Day 2. My poor partner had to do all the answering! All this because of a regular diet of Two Puffs and a Mazaa for a whole week !

It was then that I understood the difficulties faced by people who cant speak. At least I was able to make some noises. They cant even do that. I'm now determined to do something for their cause once I start earning. It was only then that I understood how difficult it is for my grandma to communicate being totally deaf, in spite of which she manges to walk on the traffiky streets of Chennai all alone !

Thank You God, for making me the way I am without any disabilities.

PS: I am almost fine now and I'm back to the Mazaa diet[:p]. Please ignore the spelling errors. Doing this from outside and the shop owner chose this moment to shut down his store and here he's back again asking me to leave the PC.
Bye!
